Invasive Cities

Invasive Cities is a series that examines urban infrastructure by transforming recognizable city layouts into forms resembling invasive cells. Each work focuses on the structural identity of a city, asking whether it can be identified through its roads, networks, and spatial organization alone.

The series draws a comparison between urban expansion and biological growth, highlighting the scale and impact of human development on the planet. It raises questions about sustainability and how densely built environments continue to expand.

The idea developed after observing the cityscape from above while flying over Eindhoven following Dutch Design Week. The concentration of infrastructure made visible the intensity of urban density and its environmental implications.

The work also addresses the social dimension of city life, where high population density does not necessarily translate into a sense of community.
